The Gästival water lily: Hydraulic Power Flower

When tradition combines with progress, the result isn’t always as graceful as the “Seerose” (water lily) that forms part of the Gästival festivities celebrating 200 years of tourism in central Switzerland. The floating event platform symbolizes the region’s own exceptional capability for unfolding itself. It was built to the highest standards in just seven months by Shiptec AG in Lucerne.

The “Gästival” anniversary project combines touristic, cultural, social and historical aspects under one roof. The celebration is a joint project of the five cantons of Uri, Schwyz, Obwalden, Nidwalden and Lucerne. The heart of the Gästival is the floating “Seerose” (water lily) platform. From May 29 until October 4, 2015, the platform will dock at various landing points in the five cantons surrounding the lake, where it will serve as a meeting point for hosts and guests, artists and festival goers, civic clubs and the general public.
